Museo de la Bomba Atómica de Nagasaki

Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum (7-8 Hirano-machi, Nagasaki, Nagasaki Prefecture) – located in the regional city of Nagasaki on the island of Kyushu (8 hours west of Tokyo), this museum is dedicated to educating visitors about the horrors of nuclear war (since Nagasaki and Hiroshima were the first and still only metropolises that were hit with atomic weapons – devastating these cities and wiping out much of their populations in August 1945 – putting an end to Japan’s involvement in World War 2 afterwards).

Survivors of those World War II incidents are on hand to provide tours – advocating resolution of future conflicts through peace & diplomacy. Documentary films related to the atomic bombings are shown. The facilities include a Q&A corner regarding the atomic bombings and peace, as well as a reference system to find documents such as Nagasaki’s Peace Declaration.

Hours: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (6:30 pm from May to August). Admission: ¥200 (adult), ¥100 (students & children). Free admission for children below elementary school age.
