Kabukicho
Kabukicho (Tokyo) – located just northeast of Shinjuku Station (the world’s busiest railway station), this 100-square block area is Tokyo’s entertainment and red-light district (consisting of countless restaurants, bars, karaoke lounges, hostess & hosuto clubs, love hotels, shops, arcades, movie houses, and of course red-light businesses). The area’s name comes from unrealized plans to build a kabuki theater there in the late 1940s. Despite this, locals still refer to this district under its present name.
