Chinese New Year

Año Nuevo chino
Chinese New Year (various Hong Kong locations)– the Chinese New Year celebrations are held every February, which is when the city’s old traditions really come to life. With age-old rituals, exhilarating performances, dazzling fireworks and a heart-pounding day of horse racing, tourists are more than welcome to get in the spirit of things. Celebrations are started by getting a sense of Hong Kong’s traditional culture with a visit to the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees, where you can join the locals in making a wish for a new year. Then it’s on to Tsim Sha Tsui, to grab a ringside seat for a close-up view of the magical illuminated floats and the talented performers of the International Chinese New Year Night Parade.
Tourists can then visit to the Che Kung Temple to spin the Wheel of Fortune. Doing so is said to dispel bad luck in the year ahead. From there you’ll head to Tsim Sha Tsui to join the crowds who flock to both sides of Victoria Harbour to witness the Lunar New Year Fireworks Display.
