Riverside Patio (Regent Street, City Center, Belize City) — this is the place to sink a beer after a hard day’s sight-seeing. By the river, next to the Commercial Center, the deck gets just enough breeze to make it comfortable any time of the day – but it’s particularly nice as the sun goes down.
MJ’s Grand (170 Barrack Road, Belize City) – with funky Belizean rhythms regularly played here, there’s also karaoke (which begins at 10 pm most evenings). MJ’s is popular with locals both for its indoor pool tables and outdoor terrace tables overlooking Newtown Barracks Green.
Legends Burger House (1/4 mile north of the bridge, Ambergris Caye) – this eatery is for those who want a simple burger and fries (that can then be washed down with a cool beer or beverage). Along with the comfort food, there is also a buzzing bar and often live music.
Lazy Lizard (The Split, Caye Caulker, Belize) – located within Caye Caulker’s favored shallow beach “The Split”, this bar is popular for its sunsets.
Habaneros (Front Street, due west from main public pier, Caye Caulker) – this restaurant is for vacationers who want to splurge. Various types of dishes are offered here, including Stone Crab Claws, Brazilian pork, Thai Snapper, Coconut Crusted Snapper, Three Meat Entrée, and Mayan Plate.
Caesar’s Palace (190 Barrack Street, Belize City) – both the music and patrons at this venue are Latin, with a crowd forming after 10:30 pm – a reminder that not everything in Belize is Caribbean-centric.
Belize Biltmore Plaza (Mile 3 ½ Northern Highway, Belize City) – with a steel band regularly playing live music, this poolside bar has a happy hour on Fridays (from 5 pm to 8 pm).
Baymen’s Tavern (Radisson Fort George Hotel, 2 Marine Parade Blvd., Belize City) – this hotel bar, which has live bands during the weekends, is noted for its pleasant outdoor deck. It attracts some of the local high rollers.
